Girl Scout Camp

Adeline is now a camper! We went to "Just the Two of Us" girl scout camp at Camp Alice Pittenger in McCall, Idaho. We had a really good time. Unlike my insane sister, I never really loved girls camp. I just never really bonded with many girls in the ward, and the idea of no showers was disgusting. Besides, what could we possibly eat? Well, unfortunately the food was nothing to write home about, but we did have a GREAT time! It reminded me of Girls Camp, too.
Robin Den was the name of our cabin - no tents. Hallelujah! As soon as we got there Adeline noticed that all the counselors had camp names. "Why does she have a nametag that says Firefly?" So as I am explaining camp names, she gets big eyes. "I want a camp name. How do you get a camp name?" Uh - I don't know kid, this is new to me, too. So she says that she wants to make herself a nametag during craft time. I ask one of the counselors what we are doing for craft time and shoot, no name tags. Tie dye and frames. But Adeline was convinced we were making name tags for crafts. I then say, "Hey! A great camp name for you would be Robin since we are staying in Robin Den for your first Girl Scout Camp!" I had no idea what I had started. From then on, she was Robin. When people asked her what her name was, it was Robin. When she got to write a letter to Phifanela (the camp fairy), she signed it Robin. And then came craft time. I was finishing up our tie dye and told her to get started on her frame. By the time I got over there, she had taken the frame supplies and adapted them to make her own name tag, "Robin". Well, I guess we were going to make nametags at craft time afterall. Funny girl.
And her favorite part about camp was her new friend, Brooke. She lives pretty close to us, and Adeline wanted to be wherever Brooke was. It was so cute. I'm so glad she has great memories of camp and made some new friends.
So all in all it was a great weekend for just the two of us. We went hiking, kayaking, crafts, sang songs, roasted marshmallows, and all that fun camp stuff. Go Girl Scouts!

Thank you for calling me insane - I'm sure it was an expression of great love. :)

Ems in Girl Scouts too and she loves it - but no camp this year. Adeline looks so darling...give her a big kiss from me!

They had camp names at our girls camp for church too. I never really got it. The whole camp name thing. Oh well. I think its only cute when you are Adeline and want to be Robin. Say hi to Robin for me!
