What to do?
Many of you know that I am a fanatic of THE BODY SHOP. I have always loved their products and loved the company. I have been a consultant for a few years and enjoyed it, but felt like I was in constant competition with the store. So I took a break and decided to go back to school in January.
Well, The Body Shop at Home division is doing some not so great things and as a result, the top 5 income earners (one making $400K/year) have left the company. One of these ladies is ginny lyke, who started The Body Shop at Home here in Boise. I know her and she is a very dynamic leader in the direct sales industry. Anything she starts will light on fire. She is starting up the direct sales team for Aloette, a similar company to The Body Shop. I have been asked if I want to be a part of it. So here is a website that I would like you guys to look at and give me your feedback: http://www.aloetteandyou.com/ Here are my pros and cons:
Pros:
1. Work with a fabulous leader, ginny, who knows how to make it to the top quickly. She made a 6 digit income with The Body Shop at Home and earned lots of great exotic trips - and since she lives here in Boise, I would work directly with her.
2. Be a part of something that could potentially take off. It's new, so everyone will be curious. Excitement is contagious.
3. There is no competition for consultants from the store or other online sites. The company is very consultant oriented. They know how to reward their consultants and even offer health insurance, high commission rate, cars, incentive trips, etc.
4. This could be the answer to paying off our debts.
5. I set my own schedule.
6. I think the products are extremely high quality and equal to, if not better than, The Body Shop. They are mostly manufactured in the USA and focus on natural products (i.e. ALOE in ALOETTE, they own their own Aloe farm in Brazil)
Cons:
1. I want to go back to school. I've always wanted to be a Biology teacher and work with high school kids. It's a very fulfiling job.
2. In these tough economic times, is this the time to be selling high end skin care and make-up?
3. Am I really passionate about this company like I was for THE BODY SHOP? I don't like the marketing - the CEO's plastic face is on every page!
4. Finding the right circle of people will be difficult - how do I break into the kind of people that buy these products?
5. Is it a risk to start this and delay going back to school? OR will school always be there, but now is the time to get in with Aloette and ginny as it is just starting up? Maybe I should go with a more sure thing and go to school to become a teacher - at least it is steady work and doesn't fluctuate with who you know or the economy.
6. Keith is skeptical.
I could go to school part time instead of my planned full time hours and still do Aloette, that way I don't burn any bridges. Or should I just do school and not Aloette? Please take a look at this website http://www.aloetteandyou.com/ and let me know what you think. I am sincerely interested to know what your reaction is to this new company. This will really help me to make a decision.

please post photos of you with skin care and make up from the body shop and alouette, side by side. that will help me decide. maybe it would help if keith did the same. if he looks horrible with aloette, then you should definitely go back to school.
(ps i'll probably post a real response later)
Gosh, I don't know! I'm all about compromise myself, so I'd probably go back to school part time and do consulting part time. Best of both worlds!
