my own worst enemy

So - for over a month now I have been waking up at 5:45 AM, yes AM, and going on a walk/run with my neighbor. You'd think I would lose weight. Oh no, this morning on the scale the same horrid number glared back at me. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I wanted to throw it across the bathroom and go back to bed. What's the point in getting up before the sun to torture myself if I am still going to be a fat pig? So I told my neighbor the sad story and we only did a short walk. Instead of doing my strength stuff after my walk, I crawled back in bed and wanted to stay there all day. Then I was talking to a friend of mine (actually two of them) and they said that it usually takes SIX WEEKS of consistent exercise before you see the pounds start to come off. Freak, I think I'll just be fat. But I came home and rounded up enough motivation to do my strength training. I can't give up now!
And for those of you who want a picture of me running at 6AM - here ya go. This will be me (eventually) - if I can get that dang scale to function properly!!

I don't know, those look like some skinny racing pigs to me...

And the same thing happened to me when I started working out consistently last winter. I think it's just in our genes. Blame mom. :)

Hey it's Aunt Dawn all the way from Hawaii/ Lexi added you guys to her blog list so I was checking you guys out. We saw the pictures from the wedding too. What a great occasion to celebrate. This is what's happening with the scales dear. Muscle weighs more than fat. Now that you are walking you are building muscle. You need to pay attention to how you look in the mirror and how your clothes fit, and how you have more energy, not what the scales say. You may even gain weight by the scale but you will lose inches and gain some amazing muscle tone. When I left for college I weighed 160 but after conditioning with the basketball team for two months I weighed 175 and my clothes were looser on me. Just remember as you loose fat you replace it with muscle that weighs more than what you lost. Hope this makes you feel better. Walk far and long and fast and rotate that torso while you pump. It will just fall off if you get aggressive. Don't just walk and talk with your friend, make it hurt. Good luck and I'll be watching the blog for that gorgeous new you in about four months. Love, Aunt Dawn Phelps

Being on a consistent exercise routine actually makes me gain weight (probably from the increased muscle and it makes me so hungry, I eat even more). At least I've got another 5 months or so of being pregnant before I have to be really good again :)

I have the exact same stinkin problem right now. your pig picture hits close to home. I have been running/walking for about 2 weeks now. It does take time. 4 more weeks to go I guess. Then maybe I'll feel better.
